Filmmaker died after fall from terrace

Police said Dutta sustained critical injuries after falling from the terrace of his residence in south Kolkata on Wednesday.

He was rushed to a private hospital near Dhakuria, where doctors declared him dead.

The filmmaker was 65 years old.

Preliminary autopsy report reveals multiple injuries

According to the preliminary autopsy conducted at SSKM Hospital, Dutta suffered extensive head, neck, chest and pelvic injuries consistent with a fall from a significant height, Bengali news platform Sangbad Pratidin reported.

Doctors found evidence of an “epidural hematoma” in the brain — a condition where blood accumulates between the skull and the outer protective covering of the brain.

Medical experts said there was also massive intracranial hemorrhaging, or internal bleeding within the skull.

The report noted that the left side of his head sustained extremely severe impact injuries.

Doctors believe the left side of his skull struck the surface first during the fall, causing fractures that split part of the skull bone into two pieces.

Health issues under scanner

Dutta had reportedly been dealing with health complications and other ailments for some time.

However, no official statement has yet been issued by his family regarding his medical condition or the circumstances surrounding his death.

Police said all aspects of the case are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
