Ashok Ruia Memorial Winter National Bridge Championship: Favourites enter Team Gold Cup Quarter Finals
Favourites Formidables, Mohota, Indian Railways ‘A’ and Hemant Jalan, along with Radhey, Monica Jajoo, Third Eye and Deepadhaar, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Team Gold Cup event after finishing among the top eight teams at the end of eight rounds of the Swiss League in the Ashok Ruia Memorial Winter National Bridge Championship at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre.
After the third segment of the last eight stages of the event, being held today, Formidables are leading against Deepadhaar by 135.25 - 82 Victory Points (VPs) while Mohota scored 110 VPS against 97 by Third Eye.
In two other quarter finals, last year's winners, Indian Railways "A", are leading against Radhey by 13 VPs ( 110 - 97) and Hemant Jalan is moving ahead against Monica Jajoo by 34 VPs ( 111- 77).
The semi-finalists of this event will be known after one more round to be held later tonight.
Top Indian player Sumit Mukherjee of Indian Railways, who played for India in many internationals and earned laurels for the country, was presented "Best Player of the Year Award 2025" for earning the maximum ranking points during the year.
Sumit also earned this prestigious award last year.
