Christmas celebrated with joy and festivity in Tripura
Christmas was celebrated across Tripura on Sunday along with other parts of the globe with special prayers, hymns, and masses in churches, besides the traditional mass community feasts with delicious food.
The celebrations began from Saturday night with church services and fellowships where the congregation sang Christmas carols - both western and local songs, composed by the local spiritualists and composers.
Police said adequate security arrangements have been made in Agartala in Mariyamnagar area, its outskirts and other parts of the state to hold the festivity peacefully.
The traditional festive spirit was evident everywhere at the capital town and other places of Agartala as the colourful decorations and illuminations were made by the revelers. Specially, Mariyamnagar area of Agartala decorated with Christmas-tree and lights to celebrate the festival on Sunday, where devotees from different parts of the state gathered for Christmas fair and festival.
Police sources said that the Christmas eve revelry began on Saturday night and was entirely peaceful. No untoward incident was reported from anywhere in Tripura. Heavy security arrangements have been made in Agartala and other parts of the state to hold the Christmas party peacefully.
Praise and worship services marked the Christmas and community feasts organizes on Saturday and Sunday in most of the villages and localities of the urban areas.
The festive spirit has also gripped the plains, hills and valleys of Christians dominated areas of Tripura as Christmas celebrations started with the stroke of midnight when church bells rang, signaling the birth of Jesus Christ. People are also conveying greetings and good wishes to one another as Christmas is a time for goodwill, faith and fun. Non-Christians are also participating in the celebrations and feasts organized by various Christian organizations.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha conveyed his greetings to the people of Tripura and participated in the festival on Sunday morning at Mariyamnagar Church and hoped that festival will bring more peace and mutual brotherhood among people of the state.
