In a major anti-drug operation, Tripura police in collaboration with the BSF, destroyed around 80,000 cannabis (Ganja) plants in the Urabari area under Noagaon VC of Sidhai police station under West Tripura district on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the joint forces led by SDPO()Mohanpur) Ashish Dasgupta conducted an operation in the area and identified several plots where cannabis was allegedly being cultivated.
During the operation, approximately 50,000 cannabis plants were cut down and destroyed across two plots, while another 30,000 plants were destroyed across eight additional plots.
Speaking about the operation, SDPO Ashish Dasgupta said the joint forces had launched the drive based on specific information. He said such operations were being conducted with the objective of building a drug-free Tripura and added that similar anti-drug drives would continue in the coming days.
