A gang of thieves arrested by Agartala police, many stolen items recovered
Agartala city police on Tuesday busted a big gang of thieves and arrested five members of the gang involved with a number of stolen incidents held in and around the city. Police also recovered many stolen items under their possessions including 4 laptops, one LED TV, 2 smart mobile phones, one bike engine and large quantities of iron rod rings.
Giving details of the successful operations of the East Agartala police station, SP(West) Kiran Kumar said that based on secret information, police has arrested two thieves Rajib Karmakar (28) and Suhel Chowdhury (30) and recovered one LED TV and two laptops under their possession.
After interrogation, police get their information of a big gang involved with a number of stolen incidents and based on the confessional statements, police have also arrested one thief identified as S. Debbarma (23) and recovered two more laptops (Sony and Lenovo), said Kumar. The SP(West) added that after interrogation, the police team has also managed to arrest another two members of the gang including Dipankar Nandi(20) and Raj Hrishidas and large quantities of iron rod rigs and a motorbike engine recovered under their possessions.
He said that arrested thieves often after lifting motorbikes, they dismantle the engine and sell it to their customers. All the arrested thieves will be produced before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation and to arrest other members of the gang.
