Agartala city police recovered stolen gold items within 5 hrs, 3 thieves arrested
The Agartala city police led by SP(West) through their prompt action after a stolen incident has managed to recover stolen valuable gold jewelleries and arrested three persons including two thieves within five hours of the incident.
Giving details before the media persons, SP(West) Kiran Kumar K at East Agartala police station on Monday evening said that at about 12.30 PM, police received a information of theft incident held at Lotus Club area of the city and immediately, a team of police personnel led by SDPO(Sadar) Ashish Kumar Dasgupta and OC of East Agartala police station Rana Chatterjee rushed to the spot and started investigation.
He said that when an old lady identified as Rinashree Roy Bhowmik, wife of one Ratan Bhowmik staying in the Lotus club area as a tenant at the house of Pinak Pratim Saha went to her bathroom at about 12.30 PM. But, sensing the presence of any unidentified person, she raised her alarm and noticed that a wallet was missing from wardrop.
They immediately called the police and the police team based on circumstantial evidences and CCTV footages has managed to arrest two thieves identified as Dipankar Sutradhar and Abhijit Sarkar from a jewellery shop, when they tried to sold the stolen items worth of Rs. 2.5 lakh, said the SP.
He said that the police team recovered the stolen items and has also arrested the jewellery shop owner, who purchased the stolen items. Kiran Kumar said that police investigation is going on and appreciated the joint efforts of city police for instant recovery of stolen items.
