Ambedkar’s birth anniversary celebrated with gaiety through different programmes
The 133rd birth anniversary of the father of the Indian constitution Dr B R Ambedkar was celebrated across the state with gaiety and enthusiasm by government departments, political parties and different organizations.
The Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha along with other dignitaries were present in the programme organized in front of Ujjayanta palace, where hundreds of school children from various schools of the state capital also participated in the programme.
Earlier, in the day as part of an official programme a colourful procession led by the Minister for SC Welfare Sudhangshu Das started from Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan and converged in front the ‘Ujjayanta’ palace where he garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar.
Later, speaking with media persons Chief Minister Dr Saha said Ambedkar spent his entire life for upliftment of people from backward classes, who was the country's best law professional, economist, politician and social revolutionary.
Dr Saha has also expressed his gratitude towards the Prime Minister Narendra Modi by declaring his birthday as a government holiday.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a statue of Ambedkar in front of the Tripura legislative assembly. He said that an 18 feet long statue will be installed to pay tribute to the father of the Indian constitution. The Chief Minister has also conveyed his greetings to the people of the state for Bengali New Year and the celebration of the day through different names by the tribal communities of the state.
The statue of Dr Ambedkar, will be a mark of respect to this great ideologist and will serve as a reminder to everyone to remain true to the works of Dr Ambedkar that, ‘cultivation of mind should be the ultimate aim of human existence’.
During the programme at assembly, SC Welfare Minister Sudhunshu Das, deputy speaker of assembly Ramprasad Paul, government chief whip Kalyani Roy and secretary of SC Welfare department Abhishek Chandra were also present.
