In a bizarre incident, a 16 years old school student murdered a photocopy and computer shop owners by multiple stabbing after the shop owner caught that student for stealing of Rs. 2500 cash from his at Netaji Chowmuhani area of Melaghar under Sepahijala district on Sunday afternoon.

Police sources said that on Sunday afternoon at about 3 PM, one Timir Deb, son of Tapash Deb of Telkajla village of Melaghar went to the Biswajit Colour Xerox and Computer shop, owned by Biswajit Debnath (57)  for photocopies of his study material. After photocopies, accused boy Timir Deb gave a note of Rs. 500 to the shopkeeper and when the shopkeeper tried to give change, he found Rs. 2500 missing from the cashbox of the shop.

When Biswajit Debnath asked the accused boy to return his Rs. 2500 and started checking his school bag, Debnath found the same amount in his school bag. Immediately, Biswajit Debnath raised the alarm and tried to catch him, but the accused boy with a knife stored inside his school bag started attacking Debnath and with multiple stabs, seriously injured the shopkeeper.

Later, two youths noticed the incident and chased the accused boy and managed to catch him from the middle of Melaghar market.

Some other shopkeepers of Melaghar market immediately shifted injured Biswajit Debnath to local hospital and after primary treatment; he was referred to GB Hospital, who got deep injuries of stabbing at his throat, head, neck and his back side of body. But, on the way to GB Hospital, injured Biswajit Debnath succumbed to death at Bishalgarh area of national highway to his critical injuries.

After the incident aggrieved traders of Melaghar market had also blockaded the main road for one hour demanding stringent action against the accused boy, who was arrested by Melaghar police station. Later, newly elected MLA of Dhanpur assembly constituency Bindu Debnath rushed to the spot and tried to defuse the escalating tension. After his request, agitated traders withdrew their blockade and resumed the normal traffic movements.

While, police sources said a specific FIR under murder charges has been registered and the accused boy will be produced before a local court on Monday for further legal proceedings.
