In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Cachar Police , seized narcotic substances worth an estimated Rs 25 crore from the Motinagar–Bhuban Pahar area under Lakhipur in Assam's Cachar district.
Acting on specific intelligence, the joint team conducted the operation in the general area of Motinagar, Bhuban Pahar, leading to the recovery of approximately 1,10,000 Yaba tablets weighing around 14 kg and 10 soap cases containing 223 grams of Heroin on Monday. The combined estimated international market value of the seized contraband is around Rs 25 crore.
During the operation, security personnel also recovered two mobile handsets believed to have been used in the narcotics trafficking network.
Three individuals were apprehended in connection with the seizure. The accused, along with the recovered contraband and other seized items, were handed over to Cachar Police for further investigation and legal action under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The successful operation highlights the Assam Rifles' continued commitment to dismantling cross-border drug trafficking networks in close coordination with the civil police and other law enforcement agencies. Officials said such coordinated efforts will continue to curb the menace of narcotics trafficking in the region.
