Bicycle rally by NEEPCO & Agartala Cycloholics: Spreading message of cleanliness & environment

A special bicycle rally was organized on Sunday at Debpur, jointly supported by NEEPCO and the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation. The rally commenced from the historic premises of Ajanta Prasad Palace and concluded at Heritage Park after covering various Durga Puja pandals across the city.
Nearly 30 cyclists, including children, youth, senior citizens, and several women riders, enthusiastically participated. The event was graced by senior officials of NEEPCO—Shri J. L. Das (Head, NEEPCO Agartala), Shri N. K. Meitei (General Manager), Shri Gopal Karmakar (General Manager), and Shri Nirup Sharma (Deputy General Manager).
The rally was formally flagged off by Mrs. Nomita Devi, wife of Shri N. K. Meitei, GM, NEEPCO Agartala. In a special gesture, both Mrs. Nomita Devi and Shri N. K. Meitei themselves rode bicycles alongside other participants, actively spreading the message of cleanliness and environmental awareness.
On this occasion, the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation released an eco-friendly leaflet emphasizing civic awareness—respecting cyclists, following road safety norms, and adopting sustainable, environment-friendly practices. During the rally, participants visited several Durga Puja pandals, interacted with the public, and distributed the leaflets.
The rally concluded at Heritage Park with a brief felicitation ceremony, where every participant was honored with a trophy, followed by light refreshments.
Mr. Gopesh Debnath, Founder of the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation, remarked that the rally was not just an event but a strong collective step towards building a cleaner, greener, and cyclist-friendly society.
