Birsha Munda statue set up in Khowai, new women police station starts functioning,Crime rate should be reduced at its zero level, CM
The Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha through his hectic day schedules has inaugurated a women police station, district level "Prati Ghare Sushashan" campaign and newly constructed tertiary waste processing centre in Khowai district on Tuesday.
The day started with the celebration of ‘Janajati Gaurav Divas’ and unveiling of Birsha Munda statue at Banabithi park in Khowai district in presence of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and a host of dignitaries.
Speaking in the inaugural programme Union Minister of , Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, AYUSH , Sarbananda Sonowal said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the initiatives to observe the birth anniversary of ‘Bhagaban Birsha Munda to encourage new generation and to motivate them with patriotism.
Highlighting the life and struggle of Birsha Munda, Sonowal said that since the formation of the Modi government, development in the entire Northeast region has been boosted up. The Congress party, in particular, is mainly responsible for the backwardness of the North-East, and the state of Tripura, has been left behind by the misrule of the Left Front government, said Sonowal .
The seeds of development have been sown; the BJP government is once again needed to reap its full harvest in the state he urges . Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, ICA Minister Sushanta Choudhury, MP Dr Mahesh Sharma, MoS Pratima Bhowmik ,ex-minister of UP Dr Mahendra Sing, philanthropist Rajib Bhattacherjee, the chief leader of the Munda community Suresh Munda were also present on this occasion along with other leaders and people came in large to witness the programme.
The installation of a life-size statue of the great tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda at Dhalabil Banabithi Park was built for Rs 25 lakh at the initiative of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said this government is a true friend of the tribal which unlike some other political parties does not shed tears for the tribal to enjoy political power. The development of tribal communities is now a reality, said Dr Saha and added that a political party was playing with the sentiment of the ethnic community people of the state and creating a myth of confusion with a baseless agenda.
Launching a scathing attack on the previous government Chief Minister said the Left Front government did nothing for the tribal welfare and development. The present government is working according to a plan to achieve holistic development in the state to make Tripura the best in the country, said Dr Saha and added that the Agartala airport is renamed after Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur
A total of 16 new Ekalavya schools are being built in the state, almost all of them in tribal areas. At present, the construction of many national highways is in progress and those NHs are being built in tribal areas. He warned that lawlessness and hooliganism would not be tolerated by the state government.
In his speech ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that a statue of Sidhu Kanu is planned to be installed in Mohanpur.
In another programme at Khowai, Chief Minister inaugurating the new women police station said that the law enforcing agencies should work to reduce the crime at its zero level as the government is relentlessly working on it. Highlighting the women empowerment initiatives taken by the state government, Dr Saha said that the crime rate in different parameters has drastically come down in past few years and the government is strictly maintaining its ‘zero tolerance’ policy against drug menace.
During the programme, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, Additional DGP Sourav Tripathi, DIG G K Rao, SP(Khowai) Rati Ranjan Debnath and MLA Kalayani Roy were also present.
