The West Tripura district administration has taken several measures to facilitate voters during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, West Tripura District Magistrate (DM) and District Election Officer Dr Vishal Kumar said on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference at the office of the West Tripura District Magistrate on Thursday afternoon, Dr Kumar said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would visit the homes of voters who have received notices regarding unmapped cases or logical discrepancies in the electoral roll.
The BLOs will collect the required documents from the concerned voters and upload them on ECINet, he said. The administration is making efforts to ensure that voters generally do not have to visit the offices of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) for hearings. Such hearings may be required only in special or exceptional cases, he added.
The district administration will also organise adequate help desks and special camps during the SIR process to assist homeless persons, workers, people staying in night shelters and other voters requiring support.
These initiatives have been taken with a focus on ensuring convenience and easy access to services for voters, the administration said.
The press conference was also informed that a Declaration Form attached to Form 6 would be used during the SIR process. However, after completion of the SIR exercise, the prescribed forms under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, will be used for inclusion of names or corrections in the electoral rolls during the regular period.
The district administration appealed to voters to extend the necessary cooperation in the SIR process.
