Border guards destroyed large number of Ganja plants, seized Yaba tablets
Border Security Force in a joint operation destroyed approximately 1,33,500 immature Ganja plants illegally cultivated in the general area of Village Gajeria and chelikhola under Bishalgarh police station under Sepahijala district on Monday.
BSF through a press statement said that about 70 acres of land has been cleared by cutting, uprooting and burning of the plants and in the special operation, in addition to BSF troops representative from Central Reserve Police Force, Narcotics Control Bureau, Forest department, state police and excise department actively participated.
BSF added that in the present season till date, a total of 3,62,400 plants have been destroyed in different parts of the state and about 255 acres of land has been reclaimed.
In another operation, the troops of BSF on Sunday launched a special operation against narcotics in the bordering Srimantapur area in which 1,550 Yaba tablets worth Rs 7.75 lakh were seized.
In other operations at different places also seized Eskuf, Phensedyl, sugar and other contraband items having a combined seizure value worth Rs 10.11 lakh.
BSF is committed to combat the issue of border smuggling on the Indo- Bangladesh international border and against the menace of Narcotics items in the state of Tripura and endeavor to make it a Narcotics free State.
The border guard’s persistent and concerted efforts and endeavors in close coordination with sister agencies will certainly bring a change in the mindset of the society and make them aware about the menace of narcotics.
