Capital punishment to killer of 5 persons
In a landmark judgement, the district and session Court of Khowai district on Wednesday pronounced capital punishment to a accused responsible for murder of five persons including a police Inspector.
Within one year of gruesome murders of five persons by accused Pradip Deb Roy (40) Laltilla area of Sheoratali village under Khowai district, allegedly a mentally ill person had murdered his two daughters, one of his brother, one neighbour and a police inspector Satyajit Mallik on the illfated night of November 26, 2021 last and with one year of trial, the district judge Shankari Das on Wednesday evening produced the judgment for capital punishment under section 302,307,326,333, 353 and 427 of IPC.
Giving details of the case, government advocate Bikash Deb said that after the gruesome murder incident, accused tried to establish himself as mentally disturb patient, but the investigation during the one year trial of the case has probed that accuse is mentally stable person and he intentionally after a dispute with his wife murdered five persons with sharp weapons.
After the incident was reported, a police team led by police Inspector Satyajit Mallik rushed to the spot and the accused had also brutally attacked on him with an iron rod and killed him.
Police sources said that accused Pradip Debroy after killing his two daughters Aditi and Mandira with an iron bar (Sabal) in his living room on November 26 midnight and after ascertaining their killing, accused had killed his elder brother Amalesh Debroy. After killing a police officer, the accused assaulted one Krishna Das (45) and his son Karnadhir Das, who were going from Ramchandraghat to Laltilla by an auto-rickshaw. Both father and son suffered grievous injuries and were shifted to hospital and during treatment Krishna Das succumbed due to his critical injuries.
The police investigation by Sub-Inspector (SI) L Darlong and SDP(Khowai) Rajib Sutradhar within few months of the case has submiiuted the charge-sheet before the court and court within one year of offence has completed the entire trail and recorded the witness of 28 persons and on Wednesday evening pronounced capital punishment to accused.
