Change route approach failed: 12 more Bangladeshi arrested from Teliamura Railway station
The continuous infiltration by Bangladeshi and Rohingyas across Tripura border, which is unabated, has recently witnessed adaptation of new routes to enter into Indian territory, but alert security forces have also foiled their bids.
After the arrest of five Bangladesh nationals from Udaipur railway station on Thursday, again on Friday security forces managed to arrest 12 more Bangladeshi including women and children from Teliamura railway station. In the recent past, most of the infiltrators were detained from Agartala railway station, but with the help of touts and traffickers, the infiltrators changed their routes and subsequently failed.
After unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued and in the last two months, above 1400 Bangladesh nationals and hundred plus Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.
Official sources said that the Government Railway Police (GRP) in association Border Security Force (BSF) have detained 12 Bangladeshi nationals including four women, four children ,while they were en route to Kolkata from Teliamura Railway Station in Khowai District on Friday, who were trying to board in a long distance train .
Police sources said that during routine check up at Teliamura Railway station by GRP and G-Branch personnel of BSF posted at Khasiamangal area of Teliamura, security forces noticed suspected movements of a group of people, who were trying to purchase tickets from the counter. But, some of them seeing forces had also tried to escape from the station, but were detained.
Police added that during interrogation, arrested foreigners revealed that they with help of touts had entered the state’s territory through Karbook border of Gomati district on Thursday and stayed in the jungle at night. On Friday morning they managed to reach the Teliamura station through local vehicles.
The GRP handed them over to Teliamura police station for further legal proceedings.
Earlier, on Thursday Government Railway Police (GRP) detained four Bangladeshi nationals and seized fake Aadhaar cards from them while they were en route to Bangalore from Udaipur Railway Station in Gomati District, who were trying to board Kanchenjunga express .
Police sources said that based on a tip-off, the GRP detained the Bangladeshi nationals, including three females and one male, from Udaipur Railway Station on Thursday morning as they were heading to Bangalore via Kolkata.
Police have seized Aadhaar cards from them and a mobile phone and suspected the Aadhaar cards are fake; however, they are investigating.
Police added that they entered India illegally to travel to Bangalore via Sealdah in West Bengal and with help of tout; they crossed the international border at Belonia in South Tripura district illegally and reached Udaipur to board the Kanchanjunga express.
It may be recalled here that the bordering Tripura, which is a top hotspot travelling destination for human trafficking, specially for Rohingyas and Bangladesh nationals, who were illegally entered into Indian territory and moves towards other parts of the country through different means of surface communication with help of Indian and Bangladeshi touts, but many time, the alert security forces have also managed to detain them.
Officials said that all the Bangladeshis and Rohingyas illegally entered Tripura to board trains or buses to go to other states in India “in search of jobs”.
