In order to smooth the existing traffic management system across Agartala with plans for the future, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday attended a high-level meeting with all concerned officials at the Civil Secretariat.

During the meeting, authorities including Chief Secretary JK Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, secretary of CM, Dr Pradip Chakraborty, secretary of Urban development department Abhishek Singh, AMC Commissioner Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav, DM (West), SP(Traffic) has highlighted scarcity of parking areas and growing traffic jams across the city.

While speaking in the meeting, Chief Minister Dr Saha said that day by day congestion in the traffic system is growing across the city and at present there are no alternatives without expanding and widening the existing roads to get rid off from massive traffic jams. He suggested the authorities prepare proper plans for expansion of city roads and stressed on strict steps to control the growing traffic jams. Dr Saha has also stressed on proper implementation of traffic rules and regulations.

During the meeting, the  Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC)  Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav gave a detailed description over improvement of traffic management in the city and SP(Traffic) Manik Das also highlighted present traffic management systems and future plans for the police department to control growing traffic jams.
