CM appeals for collective efforts to combat drugs menace in Tripura
Condemning the former Left Front government for the state's destruction, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday appealed to everyone, including clubs, to combat the drug menace in the state.
During his address at a blood donation camp organised by Yuva Samaj Club in Agartala, Dr Saha noted significant changes in club culture in Tripura.
He stated, "Clubs are now engaging in various social works, practicing yoga, participating in sports, and more. Previously, the term 'club' was associated with negativity, which is no longer the case. This pond at Yuva Samaj Club is quite old, but no initiatives were taken to beautify it until now. The Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation has highlighted how they worked towards its beautification. Our government and PM Modi seek to bring about societal change." Dr Saha accused the Left Front government of destroying society and the youth.
“For the past 35 years, this society has been ravaged and plagued by drugs, with the youth being heavily involved. But after our government formed under the direction of Union Home Minister Amit Shah we are working ruthlessly against drugs taking strict actions following which many people were arrested. Clubs should collaborate with the police and government to combat this issue. It is essential for everyone to join hands in eradicating the drug menace, as clubs play a crucial role in solving societal problems”, said Dr Saha.
Dr Saha also urged everyone to step forward and donate blood, emphasizing that the state currently has approximately 42,000 units of blood available. “Our government has made all the necessary arrangements for our healthcare system. Health remains a priority sector for us. PM Modi is also working towards healthcare development”, CM added.
