CM laid foundation for 2nd ESI hospital in NE states

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha virtually laid the foundation for a 100-bedded Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital, which will be constructed at Bodhjungnagar area at the outskirts of Agartala in 5 acre land.

Chief Minister Dr  Saha virtually attended programme form his official residence and Union Minister of Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav  also attended the programme virtually along with Union minister of state Rameshwar Teli and Pratima Bhowmik,  state’s Labour Minister Bhagaban Chandra Das, speaker Ratan Chakraborty  and Chief Secretary J K Sinha.

After the foundation stone laying ceremony, Dr Saha speaking with media persons said that the government has given a 5 acre plot of land to the Employment State Insurance (ESI) authority to set up a 100-bed hospital for above 13,000 beneficiaries of ESI contributor members. He said that the proposed hospital would be constructed within the next three years with an expenditure of Rs. 100 crore.

He said that the government gave the land to ESI free of cost and the proposed hospital will add another feather in the state’s cap and will be beneficial for the working classes of the state, which will be the second ESI hospital after Guwahati. Dr Saha said that proposed ESI Hospital would have operation theatre, OPD services and with modeler OT other basic health services would be available.

The Chief Minister added that  due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East’ policy Tripura along with other Northeastern states are moving towards progress in every sector.

Speaking in the programme,  Bhupendra Yadav said that the construction of the hospital will be completed within a period of three years and after Guwahati the second ESI hospital will be set up in Agartala in the entire Northeastern region.
