CM orders action after 15 girl students fall ill, warden, caretaker terminates
Following an incident where approximately 15 girl students fell ill at a school, Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha instructed the termination of the warden and caretaker of the hostel and additionally, a show cause notice was issued to the Maharaja Bir Bikram Welfare Society, which manages the hostel.
Dr Saha who is also education minister of the state has ordered a report to be submitted to him after around 15 girl students fell ill at school today.
As many as 15 girl students experienced severe stomach aches after consuming a meal at their hostel, Maharaja Bir Bikram Welfare Society, on Thursday in Agartala.
The students fell ill after arriving at school and entering their classrooms following the morning prayer.
They were quickly rushed to GB Pant Hospital and Dr Saha, who is also the Education Minister of the state, promptly went to the hospital to oversee their care.
Speaking with reporters later, Dr Saha said, “Around 15 girl students came here after suddenly feeling uneasy and experiencing stomach aches during prayer at Bodhjung Girls School. They were rushed to the hospital immediately. When I received the information, I directed the doctors to take all necessary measures. The incident is probably a case of food poisoning. I have directed the officials to submit a report to me on the issue. All the students are stable now, and there is nothing to worry about. I have asked the doctors to provide the best possible care”.
A show cause notice was issued to the Maharaja Bir Bikram Welfare Society hostel under the instruction of Dr. Saha. Additionally, the warden and caretaker of the hostel were terminated.
