CM to attend crucial meeting with Union Transport minister for expansion of NHs
The Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will participate in the review meeting union Road Transport and Highway ministry in Guwahati on Friday to review the national highway projects of the state.
Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari will chair the review meeting along with Chief Ministers of the Northeastern states.
Official sources said that Chief Minister Dr Saha has already left the state on Thursday towards Guwahati and will discuss in detail about the present status of the National Highway projects going on in Tripura.
Sources added that Chief Minister will give details scenario of the ongoing projects including present status of the 289-kilometer long Churaibari-Dharmanagar-Kailasahar-Kamalpur-Khowai up to Agartala national highway road number 108(B) and information related to national highway number-44(A) from Manu to Shimlung of Mizoram.
Sources said that the Chief Minister during his presentation may highlight and will urge the Union Minister for early completion of national highway number 208 from Khowai-Teliamura-Amarpur Harina, which will boost up the transportation from Chittagong port via Sabroom. The Chief Minister may raise the issues related to repairing of national highway-8 and will also place some proposals for construction of some new roads connecting national highways 108 and 208.
Chief Minister during his meeting with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari on Friday may highlight the progress of various developmental projects in the state.
Official sources said that during the propose meeting with union minister, the Chief Minister can urge the union minister to start construction works in 148 km stretch of Kamalpur-Ambassa-Gandacherra-Amarpur road, 44 km stretch of Udaipur-Sonamura-Comilla road and Western bypass road of Agartala should be included under ‘Bharatmala 2.0’ project.
Sources also said that the Chief Minister will raise the demand to convert the Udaipur-Sonamura Road into a national highway.
It may be recalled here that the Union Road Transport and Highway ministry has so far completed the construction works Udaipur-Sabroom and Agartala-Udaipur national highways, construction of bridge at river Feni in Sabroom and repairing works at Khayerpur-Amtali bypass road.
Gadkari, who attended meetings with few other Northeastern states on Thursday, has stressed the importance of coordination and partnership between the central and state agencies to develop top-class transport infrastructure in the Northeast.
