CM's initiative adds two additional holidays to 2026 Calendar for govt employees
The state government has released the official list of holidays for 2026, announcing two additional days off for government employees, an outcome of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha’s considerate initiative.
This gesture reflects the special goodwill and considerate approach of Chief Minister, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, towards the welfare of government personnel.
As per the 2026 holiday calendar, Lakshmi Puja falls on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Since Sunday is already a weekly holiday, the State Government has declared Monday, October 26, 2026, as a compensatory holiday, allowing employees to fully observe and enjoy the festival with their families.
Similarly, Diwali will be celebrated on Sunday, November 8, 2026. In the same spirit of consideration, the government has declared Monday, November 9, 2026, as an official holiday, ensuring that all concerned can observe the festival without compromise.
These thoughtful additions to the holiday list reinforce the Chief Minister’s commitment to supporting cultural traditions and enhancing work–life balance for government employees.
