Congress’ Maligoan march on May 8th demanding Railway division in Tripura
Demanding expansion of railway and a separate division for Tripura, hundreds of Congress workers and leaders from Tripura will submit a memorandum before the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) in Maligaon, Guwahati on May 8th next.
Addressing a press conference here at Congress Bhavan on Thursday afternoon, Pradesh Congress president and MLA Birajit Sinha accompanied by other leaders said that in support of their demands including an alternative railway link connecting Dharmanagar-Kailasahar-Kamalpur-Khowai-Agartala-Sonamura-Sabroom and a separate railway division for Tripura, hundreds of Congress workers and leaders will move towards Guwahati on May 7th and will submit a memorandum before the GM of NFR on May 8th next.
He claimed that Tripura has been deprived of railway connectivity and majority of the Indian states have railway connectivity by connecting their district headquarters, but in the case of Tripura till today many of the district headquarters were not connected with railway link.
He also said that during Congress regime (UPA government), the then Railway Minister has taken initiative for an alternative railway connectivity inside Tripura by connecting Dharmanagar to Sabroom with linking of many district headquarters, but till date there are now initiatives by governments.
He also said that a delegation of Congress will also meet the Union Civil Aviation Minister demanding reopening of Kailashahar airport to boost up the regional connectivity.
Sinha also said that Congress will give its all-out efforts to ensure defeat of ruling BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha elections and expressed his hope that this time Congress and other opposition parties will oust the Narendra Modi led by BJP government from centre.
