Congress to organize Raj Bhavan Abhijan in Nov demanding caste census; roll back of power tariff hike
Tripura Pradesh Congress will launch statewide movements in support of people’s demand for roll back of power tariff hike, property tax hike in AMC and for caste based census.
After an organizational meeting of the party’s Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Community (OBC) and Minority departments held at Students Health Home in Agartala, Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha said that as per the decision of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), all the state unit of the party will strengthen its movements demanding caste based census.
He said that the organizational meeting had detailed discussions to strengthen all the departments of SC, ST,OBC and Minority of the Pradesh Congress in every booth of the state and the party will organize mass movements across Tripura demanding 125th Amendment of the Constitution for empowerment of tribals.
Saha said that in November next Congress will organize Raj Bhavan Abhijan in support of their demand for passing of 125th Amendment of the Constitution Bill in Parliament, rollback of power tariff hike and property tax hike in Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).
He alleged that despite warnings from the Chief Minister, BJP cadres and leaders across the state have been continuing extortion in the name of Durga Puja subscription, which never happened in the state.
“The BJP cadres, led by Yuva Morcha secretary of Sepahijala district Saikat Saha, brutally beat up a Muslim cattle trader, Dulal Miah and his son , Maman, for refusing to pay Durga Puja subscription of Rs. 5 lakh. Both are fighting for life in the hospital, but police have not taken any action against the accused yet,” said Saha.
Seeking such a hefty demand for a religious Hindu festival from Muslim, BJP cadres have attempted to create communal hatred and social disorder during the festival season, said Saha and hoped that police would take firm action and Chief Minister comes out with a statement, but after passing of four day not action is taken so far.
He also alleged that the BJP government in Tripura has miserably failed to fulfill its promises made to the people on employment and prices of essential commodities have increased unprecedentedly along with hiked charges for electricity, property tax and others.
The government is doing nothing towards the development but is making holes in the pockets of the common men.
He said that the Congress with support of the state’s people will also organize block wise against deprivation and anti-people policies of the state government.
While addressing in the organizational meeting, the former Minister and deserted leader of CPI and Tipra-Motha slammed the regional party for their communal politics and claimed that only Congress is the party that can uplift all communities of the country and will protect the rights of tribal communities.
