CPI (M)-Congress alliance ‘unholy’, people will give them befitting reply, CM
Day after main opposition CPI(M) and Congress announced to form an alliance to fight against ruling BJP, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday claimed the proposed alliance as “unholy nexus”.
Speaking with media persons while laying the foundation stone for beautification of a pond in Nagerjala area on Saturday said that the people of the state will not accept this ‘unholy alliance’ and will repose their trust afresh in the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.
He said that for decades Congress party was the victim of violence sponsored by CPI(M) and many Congress workers were killed by them, now they are on one platform.
Expressing his surprise over the alliance, Dr Saha said that this is an unholy alliance by few people for their personal interest and people of the state know very well their characters.
“Once some Congress leaders tendered their resignation from the party after Congress formed alliance with CPI(M) in West Bengal and now the same leaders are embracing the leaders of CPI(M) for their personal gain,” said Dr Saha and added that people of the state will give them befitting reply in ensuing assembly election.
He hoped that many honest Congressmen will leave their party, because no people are ready to accept the ‘unholy’ alliance.
Highlighting the developmental activities of the present government, Dr Saha said they are reaching people to decrease their problems, but these opposition parties instead of going to the doors of people they are travelling to each other's party offices.
He also said that even earlier the Congress and CPI (M) had a relationship based on ‘Dosti’ in Delhi and ‘Kusti’ in Tripura and they did nothing. “We have delivered much more than our promises made before the last assembly election and the people of the state know this very well and will keep their trust in BJP’s good governance.
He also rejected the allegations of shortage of food, shelter and livelihood in Tripura and said the opposition parties don't see the all-around development, which is taking place in the state.
"They need to undergo cataract surgery immediately to see the peace, prosperity and development in Tripura," said Dr Saha.
While, replying to a question over possible joining of Tipra-Motha with CPI(M)-Congress alliance, Dr Said that he was not aware of such development . He said that doors of BJP are always open for the continuous development of the state and anybody can join their party.
Former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb also criticised the CPI(M) and the Congress for joining hands to fight against the BJP ahead of the assembly elections.
"What we saw last night confirms that the CPI(M) maintains good relations with the Congress. The Left party had ruled the state for 25 years because of the tacit understanding between the Congress and the CPI(M)", Deb said.
It may be recalled here that on Friday night, AICC leader and in-charge for Tripura Dr Ajoy Kumar went to the CPI (M) state headquarters and attended a meeting with CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury and other senior leaders of the party. Both Congress and CPI(M) leaders said that several rounds of meetings would be held for the final shape of their alliance to ensure the defeat of BJP in coming assembly elections.
