CPI (M), Congress, other Left parties appeals to people to raise united voice against BJP govt
In a joint initiative, opposition CPI(M) with other Left Front allies and with Congress has made a statement to bring all secular and democratic forces ahead of the assembly elections in the state to defeat the BJP.
Speaking with media persons CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury after releasing the statement has call upon the people of the state, to spontaneously come forward cutting across political identity, religion, caste and community to raise united voice of protest against the ‘misrule’ and come forward to make an end to this regime.
Chowdhury said that all parties have unitedly issued the joint statement to protect democracy and restore rule of law in the state. But, he did not disclose any possible alliance of all Left Front parties along with Congress and said that after declaration of assembly elections, people of the state will witness movements of all secular and democratic forces.
He said that in the appeal made by the secular and democratic political parties to the people of the state to restore democracy and demand free and fair elections, the supremo of Tipra-Motha party has been consulted on the issue.
Chowdhury said that Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, who is now outside of the state, has broadly endorsed the views expressed in the state.
He said that CPI (M) continues its movements to restore democracy in the state, which has been throttled during the past 58 months of rule by the BJP-IPFT government. He added that their top priority is to restore democracy and create an environment where the electors could exercise their democratic rights freely.
He reiterated that CPI(M) along with other democratic forces are exploring all possibilities to ensure defeat of the BJP in the 2023 assembly elections, but no final decision has been taken so far.
While, in a joint statement signed by CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury, Pradesh Congress president Birajit Sinha, CPI secretary Dr Yudhisthir Das, Forward Bloc secretary Paresh Sarkar, RSP secretary Dipak Deb and CPI(ML) secretary Partha Karmakar said “an unimaginable, abnormally anarchical rule was set in, in the state of Tripura since formation of alliance government led by BJP.”
The statement claimed that the civil rights were denied, the individual entity of the media has been destroyed. Independent functioning of the opposition parties has been immobilized through throttling their voice. In fact, a one party tyrannical rule has been imposed in the state.
The statement added that the right of the electors to freely cast vote has been snatched away. The election has been reduced to a farcical event. Intentional inactiveness of the administration, particularly of a section of the police administration has helped the ruling party to carry on their unconstitutional and undemocratic actions and indulged the miscreants abetted by the ruling party. Incidents like murder; terror actions, looting, and extortion of money are common features in the state. The sources of means on the basis of which the people maintain day to day livelihood are being destroyed. In places, the people are being evicted from their ancestral land and forced to depart for other places or other states. The ferocious crimes against mothers and sisters are taking place in the state. The police don’t touch the criminals as they carry labels of ruling party followers or patronized by the ruling party. On the contrary, the framed up cases against the victims are piling up. The rule of law has been replaced by the rule of the jungle.
“The parties of following signatories trust that the peaceful, democratic-minded people of Tripura shall not accept the appalling situation that has been prevailing in the state. We undersigned, earnestly and generously call upon the people of the state, to spontaneously come forward cutting across political identity, religion, caste and community to raise a united voice of protest against this misrule and come forward to make an end to this black regime,” said the statement.
The statement has also appealed to the administration and police administration to pursue impartial stand and discharge their constitutional duties to restore the rule of law and order in the state.
They also appeal to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take proactive measures to conduct the election in a healthy democratic atmosphere and ensure the right to vote of the electors freely by each of the voters himself.
