CPI (M) delegation to meet GM, NFR in Maligaon on June 27
A delegation of six senior CPI (M) leaders will meet in deputation with General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) in Maligaon , Guwahati on June 27th next to place a fifteen point charter of demands in the interest of the railway expansion in Tripura and overall interest of passengers of the state. The delegation will include former MP Sankar Prasad Datta, two CPI(M) MLAs Sailendra Chandra Nath, Dipankar Sen, ex-MLA Prabhat Chowdhury, TYF president Koushik Roy Debbarman and ex-member west Tripura Zilla Parishad Palash Bhowmik.
The charter of demands that will be submitted to the General Manager, NFR include two pairs of trains should be introduced between Agartala and Dharmanagar from both sides with increase in number of compartments. A daily train should be introduced on the Agartala-Silchar route. Dharmanagar-Sabroom route a daily new train should be introduced with increased compartments to accommodate more and more passengers. Rajdhani Express should be re-introduced bi-weekly. Jana Shatabdi Express between Agartala-Jiribam should run everyday instead of three days a week, Daily Shatabdi/Bande Bharat Express should be introduced in Agartala-Guwahati route, proposed survey of alternate Dharmanagar-Kailashahar, Kamalpur-Khowai-Mohanpur-Agartala-Sonamura-Belonia rail line should be completed at the earliest and necessary steps for issuing financial sanction should be taken immediately, survey work of Dharmanagar-Kanchanpur rail line should be started immediately, work of Agartala-Akhaura-Dhaka-Kolkata rail line (Dual-gauge) should be completed as early as possible.
They will also raise the demands for initiative should be taken to start a rail line between Subroom and Chittagang and Belonia to Feni of Bangladesh, to improve the passengers convenience old coaches unfit to use, should be replaced with new coaches . Electrification of the rail line along with laying of double track from Lumding to Subroom should be done with priority, a Rail Division should be established in Tripura. Also, action for setting up of a recruitment centre in Tripura should be taken up.
Apart from these, the Left delegation will also demand for toilets and coaches of the trains should be cleaned regularly. Necessary action for cleanliness of the stations should be taken up. Sufficient drinking water should be provided inside the coaches as well as in the rail stations also and with a view to create buffer stock of food-grain and petro products in the state Depot of appropriate size of IOC and FCI should be constructed and escalator service should be introduced in every platform of Agartala rail station as well as other big stations to improve passengers’ convenience.
