"Create in India Challenge - Meet and Greet" event held at Agartala
A program and workshop, titled "Meet and Greet – Create in India Challenge" was held at Sukanta Academy in Agartala on Wednesday to create awareness and instill in interest among the youth in grasping of the new horizons and opportunities in the field of new horizons in the audio-visual and entertainment sectors. The program, initiated in the run up to the WAVES2025, deliberated on emerging fields and scopes in the new media and entertainment sector. The event has also highlighted aspects to provide students with a platform to connect with the evolving areas of audio-visual content creation, connecting young minds with current industry trends and exploring future career possibilities in India’s rapidly growing creative sector.
Students from various colleges and universities in Agartala participated in the event. The event was organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and in collaboration with the Department of Information and Culture, Tripura Film and Television Institute and Tripura University.
After inaugurating the program, the chief guest, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Chakravarty, Secretary, Information & Culture Affairs (ICA) of Tripura government said that organizing such an event is very important given the current landscape of media and entertainment scenario so as to bring creative young talent to the world stage. He said that this is learnt that the 'Meet and Greet-Create in India Challenge' programme is being organized with the aim to reach out to the young talents and let them introduce with nitty-gritty of new areas of various creative disciplines on web and digital platforms. He said that the initiative of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Press Information Bureau is commendable.
Talking about the opportunities to participate in the challenges in various categories, many categories have been included such as films, short films, reel production, theme songs, television, community radio, music, advertising, animation, e-gaming, e-sports, social media, film digital posters, and more. Dr Chakravarty also advised the creators to take precautions as per the given statutory rules while making and exploring creativity. He said that in today's web and digital world, it is required to be updated with the legal regulations when creating online media and entertainment media contents.
On the occasion, guest of honour Dr Deepak Sharma, Registrar, of Tripura University said, Mobile phones are no longer just entertainment, this is now an important tool of information sharing. He said that the evolving image of a New India, the development and progress of the country should be portrayed before the world through these digital contents and mediums. He said that the initiative of organising WAVES 202, by the Ministry of Information Broadcasting, Government of India is very timely and is expected to give a bigger dividend to the young talents. He urged the new generation to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in these 27 creative challenges under the WAVES 2025.
On the occasion, Samdarshi Dutta, a film maker and faculty from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute and Tripura Film and Television Institute teacher and filmmaker, deliberated on the new vistas and horizons in the media and entertainment sectors, especially in cinema and visual medium. He said that India holds a prominent position in the global film industry. Modern and digital technologies and resources are currently readily available in India. Therefore, young people have access to all these advantages, but they need to expand their habits of learning and acquiring knowledge. He emphasized the need for greater awareness, caution, and responsibility among young people in creating video and film content. He expressed hope that the WAVES summit will open up with new scopes and opportunities before the young generation. In the event, Subhasis Chanda, Deputy Director of Press Information Bureau (PIB), Agartala delivered a welcome speech. He said that today’s program is a prelude to the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), which will be organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi during 5- 9 in 2025. The WAVES is an initiative to celebrate and promote youth creativity on digital platforms and to connect them with the world creative and entertainment sectors.
At the beginning of the programme, dignitaries, students and teachers took pledge collectively to mark the Constitution Day. Students and faculty members of Tripura University's Journalism Department, B-Voc (Films Department), Tripura Film and Television Institute, MBBB College, Women’s College, Ramthakur College, BBM College, Sachin Deb Burman Music College participated in the program, many of the students staged various extempore performances.
