People across Tripura have been struggling with intense heat and humidity over the past several days. Although a few spells of rain brought brief relief on Saturday afternoon, temperatures began rising again since past few days, making conditions uncomfortable under the scorching sun.

Amid the sweltering weather, the demand for tender palm fruit pulp, locally known as ‘Tal Shaas’, has increased significantly as people look for natural ways to stay cool. Raw palm fruits and tender palm pulp have already started arriving in local markets, drawing considerable attention from buyers.

According to traders, tender palm fruits are currently witnessing higher demand than ripe palm fruits. Depending on their size, the fruits are being sold at prices ranging between Rs 20 and Rs 40 each.

Nutritionists say that tender palm pulp contains a high amount of water, which helps keep the body hydrated during extreme heat. It is also rich in Vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, iron, and antioxidants that help refresh the body and boost immunity.

Health experts further noted that palm pulp aids digestion, helps relieve constipation, and is beneficial for bone and eye health.

With the summer heat continuing across the state, the popularity of palm pulp is rapidly increasing in both urban and rural areas as a refreshing and healthy seasonal delicacy.
