Eid-ul-Fitr celebrates across Tripura with religious fervour and gaiety; Governor, CM greets people
Pious Muslims across Tripura along with other parts of the country on Saturday celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with fervour and gaiety.
Hindus also joined in the celebrations in many parts of the state to mark the day with a show of harmony between communities.
Muslims offered Namaz (prayers) in a gesture of thanks giving at the end of the month-long fasting during Ramadan at Eidgahs and mosques across the state. Hindu families visited the houses of their Muslim friends and greeted them on the occasion.
Large congregations of Muslims offering prayers were seen at different mosques in Agartala’s Shivnagar, Shantipara, Border Golchakkar, Aralia and other parts of the state including Sonamura, Kailashahar and Dharmanagar towns.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Governor, Indrasena Reddy Nallu, has extended his heartfelt greetings to the people. In a message, the Governor said that Eid-ul-Fitr conveys the message of harmony and unity among all. It is a time when people from all walks of life—regardless of caste, creed, or religion—come together in a spirit of mutual respect and brotherhood.
He added that the festival teaches compassion, generosity, and the importance of helping those in need. Eid-ul-Fitr inspires individuals to practice kindness and strengthen social bonds. The Governor expressed hope that this auspicious occasion would bring joy, peace, prosperity, and harmony into the lives of all people across the state.
On the occasion of the holy festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the Muslim community as well as all the people of the state.
In a message, the Chief Minister said that the teachings of the holy month of Ramadan—sacrifice, tolerance, and compassion—guide people towards a better path in life. He emphasized that these values help in building a harmonious and inclusive society.
He further added, “On this auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, let us all pray together for a peaceful and prosperous future. May the spirit of unity and brotherhood prevail among all sections of society.” The Chief Minister wished for the good health, happiness, and prosperity of all citizens of the state.
Reports from the other pious Muslims offered ‘Namaaz’ (prayers) in hundreds of mosques of the state to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday. Eid-ul-Fitr has a special significance for Muslims as it comes after 30 days of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
However, just before the celebration of Eid, shopping reached a feverish pitch in Agartala city and other sub divisional towns of the state on Friday as shoppers’ thronged markets to complete their shopping for March end sale and for the Eid celebration.
