Five more Bangladeshi, Rohingyas arrested from Agartala Railway for illegal entry
Despite strong surveillance in entire stretch of India-Bangladesh along with Tripura after unrest in Bangladesh to stop any attempt infiltration by Bangladeshi anti-social elements, the infiltration by Bangladeshi and Rohingyas has been continues and its fresh episode, altogether five foreigners including two Bangladeshi and three Rohingyas were arrested by Government Railway Police (GRP) at Agartala railway station ion Tuesday.
After unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration by Bangladeshi, Rohingyas into Tripura unabated, but vigilant security forces in maximum cases managed to arrest them after they entered Indian territory.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of GRP of Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das said that based on secret information, a joint contingent of GRP, BSF and RPF laid traps in the entire Agartala railway station in plain clothes to detect foreigners, who were entering Indian territory illegally. On Monday night, the teams of security forces detained five suspects including a woman.
During preliminary interrogation, they said they are Indian, but after thorough interrogation, they revealed that two of them are Bangladeshi and three are Rohingyas, who were entered into Tripura’s territory without any valid documents, said Das.
Arrested foreigners were identified as Rohim Ullah (26) of Myanmar, presently staying at Kutupalong, Rohinga Camp No-01, Coxbazar, Bangladesh, Md. Ayub (45) of Myanmar staying at Hakimpara, Camp-14, Coxbazar, Bangladesh, Hussanara Begam (32) of Myanmar, present stay at Hakimpara, Camp-14, Coxbazar with her son namely-Md. Anish (4 Years), Md. Chan Miah (24) of Bogura district of Bangladesh and Sabbir Hossain (24) of same Bogura district of Bangladesh.
He said that all arrested Bangladeshi and Rohingyas were also produced before a local court with police remand appeals on Tuesday for further interrogation to unearth their infiltration nexus.
It may be recalled here that the bordering Tripura, which is a top hotspot travelling destination for human trafficking, specially for Rohingyas and Bangladesh nationals, who were illegally entered into Indian territory and moves towards other parts of the country through different means of surface communication with help of Indian and Bangladeshi touts, but many time, the alert security forces have also managed to detain them.
Following the direction of Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, the BSF has stepped up its drive against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and all field formations are actively breaking down the nexus of touts in the bordering areas.
Tripura Frontier Inspector General Patel Piyush Purushottam Das said that 95 percent of the 856 km India-Bangladesh border with Tripura has already been fenced, while fencing work is going on in the remaining 27.5 km.
Over the last three months, more than 350 Bangladeshi nationals and 60 Rohingyas were arrested by the GRP, BSF and Tripura Police from the Agartala railway station and various other places in Tripura after they illegally entered India.
Officials said that all the Bangladeshis and Rohingyas illegally entered Tripura to board trains or buses to go to other states in India “in search of jobs”.
