Gadkari announces seven news projects for Tripura worth Rs 10,222 crore
After two days of review meeting of national highway projects across Northeast region, the () Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday announced sanctioning of upcoming new projects worth Rs 10,222 crore by sanctioning seven new communication projects for Tripura.
At a press conference in Guwahati on the review of national highway (NH) projects in the north-eastern region, the Union Minister also announced sanctioning of upcoming new projects worth Rs 1.6 lakh crore in the northeast and these projects include roads, ropeways, RoBs, major bridges across river Brahmaputra and other water bodies.
Gadkari speaking with media persons along with Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and General V K Singh Union Minister of State said Multi Modal logistics park (MMLP) have also been proposed at Udaipur at the bank of river Gomati, which will boost up the export-import with neighbouring Bangladesh.
He said under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, "we're working towards bridging the connectivity gap in the northeast, and giving momentum to transport infrastructure in the region". He also said that the union government is very much committed to all types of development in the Northeast region.
He said that 212 kilometres of road length with cost of Rs.2100 crore has been completed in Tripura and ongoing projects of Rs.4075 crore are going for construction of road length of 280 kilometers. Gadkari said that new projects of 578 kms with cost of Rs. 12,426 has been sanctioned along with approval of four lining of 171 km length of Agartala-Churaibari with cost of Rs. 3233 crores.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha , specially requested the union ministry to sanction the four lane project for Agartala to Churaibari road and the ministry has also sanctioned the project, said Gadkari.
Among the seven projects sanctioned in the highways review meeting, Agartala-Churaibari on NH-8 (171 km) four lane with cost of Rs.3,233 crore, Agartala bypass west and eastern part-35 km length with cost of Rs.3161 crore, Khowai-Teliamura-Amarpur-Harina on NH-208 with cost of Rs.2421 crore, Udaipur-Srimantapur four lane work for 34 kms with cost of Rs.480 crore, four ropeways projects including Maharani-Chabimura, Udaipur railway station to Tripura Sundari temple, Jampui Hills and Surmacherra in Kamalpur with cost of Rs. 692 crore , three railway overhead bridge with 35 crore and construction of concrete roads in city areas for Rs. 200 crore.
Gadkari, announcing the seven new projects for Tripura, also appreciated the rule of the Chief Minister and added that once these projects are completed, it would give a significant boost to the tourism sector and economy in the state.
During the review meeting the union minister has also instructed National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to expedite the construction works over ongoing projects of 28 kms national highways. Gadkari also requested the state government to complete the process of land acquisition, forest clearance, shifting power and water connections in ongoing projects to expedite the construction works.
During the meeting for construction of four ropeways, the state government along with National Highways Logistic Management Limited (NHLML) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
He also reviewed the delayed projects in the four states to understand the reasons for delay and issued specific instructions to get them on track and has directed officials for the speedy completion of projects.
