Govt committed to enhance healthcare system, focusing on upgrading hospitals: CM
Tripura Chief Minister, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, announced on Monday that his government is diligently working towards the development of healthcare facilities across the state. This initiative aims to provide improved medical services, starting from Primary Health Care centers up to District Hospitals, benefiting the people of Tripura.
During the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed 10-bed Kanchanmala Primary Health Care (PHC) building, the Chief Minister expressed his government's commitment to providing round-the-clock medical facilities. The construction of the PHC building cost Rs 20.50 crore, and it stands as a testament to the government's dedication to upgrading healthcare infrastructure.
“The government plans to develop all hospitals, starting from Primary Health Centers (PHCs) to District Hospitals, in the coming days. The main aim of our government is to develop the infrastructure of healthcare in a bid to provide better health facilities. The health department has ensured excellent facilities in the hospital and urged everyone to maintain its cleanliness”, he said.
The CM compared the hospital to a temple and appealed to people not to spit or litter, and to support the healthcare workers and said that the responsibility of maintaining the hospital is shared by all.
“Previously, people had to travel outside the state for better healthcare, but now the state has its own specialized hospital. Efforts are being made to reduce the load on State Hospitals by developing district hospitals with comprehensive facilities and strengthening sub-divisional hospitals”, said Dr Saha.
The CM emphasized the importance of trust between doctors and patients, urging doctors and health workers to treat patients with politeness.
The CM expressed gratitude to PM Modi for introducing the Ayushman Bharat Card. Under this scheme, family members receive Rs 5 lakh for treatment, while the Tripura government provides Rs 10 lakh, which is a unique offering. Over 13 lakh cards have been distributed so far.
During the program, Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Paul, West District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Debasish Basu, Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Dr Supriya Mallik were present.
