“The TSR new battalion has performed a beautiful parade. Tripura State Rifles is the pride of Tripura. The people of Tripura feel proud of TSR. Not only in Tripura but in the entire country, there is a good reputation for TSR. During the insurgency period, TSR played a key role, and many TSR jawans were martyred. Last time, for the first time, women were inducted into the TSR, and they also performed very well in the parade. TSR has always been working diligently in maintaining law and order, during natural disasters, and also in social work, which they will continue in the coming days,” he said.
Dr Saha said that a total of 1413 persons were recruited, including 137 women and 1276 men.
In four training centers, they underwent training, which was held according to the course of the Ministry of Home Department of the Government of India for IR battalion.
“In the year 1984, TSR started their journey to combat insurgency. The main aim of TSR is Veerata and Bandhuta, and with this aim, they are moving forward. In 1990, the second battalion was formed. TSR was deployed along the international border as the second layer of security with BSF. Today, the passing out of the 14th and 15th battalion was held, and they are ready to take on any kind of challenges. Apart from combating insurgency, TSR is fulfilling its responsibilities in maintaining law and order, working during natural disasters, the safety of industrial areas, and the security of VIPs. At present, TSR is deployed in ONGC and OTPC for security. Apart from this, TNGCL, NEEPCO. As per the demand of the Home Ministry, we have also deployed TSR in Delhi and Chhattisgarh.
