HC Bar Association election: Left, Cong panel captured 7 posts, BJP panel won 4 posts

The prestigious elections for the Tripura High Court Bar Association completed with festival spirit on Saturday and after a tough fight, the executive committee of Bar has been captured jointly by both “Save Constitution Forum”, comprising advocates affiliated with opposition CPI (M) and Congress and advocate panel from ruling BJP, “Ainjibi Unnayan Mancha”.
After the counting was over, giving details, the Returning Officer (RO), Nepal Majumder said that among the 217 voters including 15 senior advocates, altogether 210 votes casted in four booths since Saturday morning.
Majumder said that veteran advocate Bibhal Nandi Majumder of Ainjibi Unnayan Mancha”.was the winner in the post of president with 106 votes by defeating senior advocate Pijush Kanti Biswas of “Save Constitution Forum” while senior advocate Subrata Sarkar in the post of secretary - from the “Save Constitution Forum” was the winner with 92 votes by defeating advocate Sankar Lodh.
However the CPI (M) and Congress -led panel captured the posts of vice president and treasurer as their candidates to the respective posts Prabal Kumar Ghosh and Sougata Datta. For the post of one assistant secretary, advocate Asmita Banik from the BJP panel won the elections with 111 votes.
From the post of six members, from “Save Constitution Forum” panel advocates Saikat Saha (127 votes), Sagar Banik (122 votes), Chitra Chakraborty (104 votes) and Manojit Dey (99 votes) won the elections as executive members of the High Court Bar.
From BJP panel advocate Ankan Tilak Pail with 125 votes and Dibendhu Sarkar with 99 votes were also declared winners as executive members of the Bar.
After the election both sides expressed satisfaction and in the final result “Save Constitution Forum” secured victory in seven posts, while the BJP panel got 4 posts.
Returning Officer (RO) Nepal Majumder said that the elections for the five posts office bearers and six posts of members had started from morning 10 AM on Saturday and had continued up to 2.15 PM in the afternoon and after votes, counting of polled votes started in the afternoon.
