Holy Cross School organises child protection & safety awareness programme

Holy Cross School, Agartala, conducted a child protection and safety awareness program for its Class ‘D’ employees, focusing on safeguarding children and understanding the provisions of the POCSO Act 2012.
The event was led by Fr. K.J. Abraham, Chairman of Holy Cross Foundation, an expert in child psychology with a diploma in child protection from Rome, Italy. Madam Supriya Chakraborty, PRO of Holy Cross School and a trained child mental health professional (NIMHANS & CISCE), assisted him and provided translation support to ensure all staff could grasp the concepts in their native language.
Fr. Abraham stressed the importance of treating all children with respect, care, and moral guidance regardless of their background. He urged staff to manage students with kindness, offering support even in moments of distress or misbehavior. He emphasized that concerns regarding a child’s well-being should be promptly reported to parents through the receptionist, nurse, or teachers.
Additionally, Fr. Abraham reminded staff of the significance of maintaining appropriate dress and body language while interacting with students. His message centered on the responsibility of educators and caregivers in shaping young minds into future citizens who uphold the values necessary for a strong and ethical society.
During the session, Fr. Abraham explained the POCSO Act, its applications, and the importance of adhering to child protection laws. He urged all attendees to prioritize the well-being of children beyond religious or social differences, ensuring they grow with happiness, security, and moral strength to become responsible citizens of the country.

Madam Supriya Chakraborty, PRO, Holy Cross School, a trained child mental health professional (NIMHANS & CISCE), helped the staff with translation to understand in their mother tongue.
Father emphasized that all the staff should behave & manage our school kids politely. He told not only school kids but also other poor kids that nobody is there to take care of them, and also rich kids - for everyone we should give them moral values & help them in any problem. Even if the children cry or misbehave, we should try to help & give moral values. After that, with the help of our receptionist, nurse, or teachers, they should inform their parents.
Fr. requested all the staff to maintain their dress and body language. It should be our goal to make all the children good citizens so that in the future, our country gets good people to manage the rules and regulations. They should take care of children to grow into good human beings with good mentality.
Fr. explained POCSO in detail. He explained when and how to use the POCSO laws. He warned everybody about POCSO. At last, Father told everybody that without thinking of any religion or other things, everybody should go ahead and help all the children grow with joy and happiness, as in the future they will be our citizens to look after our country.
