A spa centre in the Rajabagh area of Udaipur under Gomati district has come under scrutiny following allegations of illegal activities, triggering tension in the locality on Sunday evening.
According to local sources, several youths from the Rajabagh area entered the spa centre on Sunday evening and allegedly found young men and women engaged in objectionable activities. The youths claimed to have caught several people at the spot.
As news of the incident spread, a crowd gathered outside the centre. Police were subsequently informed. Personnel from the Radhakishorepur police station and the Radhakishorepur Women Police Station reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Police detained two married women and a young man from the spa centre and took them to the police station. However, the exact nature of the activities allegedly taking place there, and whether anyone else was involved, are still being investigated.
Local residents have demanded strict action if any illegal or objectionable activities are found to be taking place under the guise of a spa centre in the densely populated area. They have also called for verification of the centre’s legal approvals, licences and the services being provided.
Details of the legal action, if any, being taken against the three detained individuals have not yet been disclosed. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The allegations have once again raised questions about the administration’s role in monitoring spa centres. The exact nature of the activities and the veracity of the allegations are expected to become clear after the investigation.
