Inauguration of National Vedic Seminar at CSU, Ekalavya Campus
The three-day long National Vedic Seminar on ‘Contribution of Veda in Enhancement of Indian Knowledge System’ was inaugurated on Wednesday and will be continued up to January 31st at Central Sanskrit University, Ekalavya Campus, in collaboration with Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedvidya Pratisthan, Ujjain. The seminar aims to delve into the significance of the Vedas in shaping India’s intellectual traditions and their contemporary relevance.
The inaugural event commenced with a grand rally, where scholars, faculty members, and students from Central Sanskrit University, Ekalavya Campus, Tripura and other scholars from various other institutions marched from the university premises to Agriculture College, Lembucherra. The rally symbolized the commitment to preserving and promoting Vedic knowledge as a cornerstone of India’s rich cultural heritage.
The Chief Guest, Prof.(Dr) Ratan Kumar Saha, Vice Chancellor of Techno India University, Agartala, emphasized the role of Vedic studies in contemporary education, saying:
"The Vedic tradition has shaped India’s education system for thousands of years. By integrating Vedic wisdom with modern disciplines, we can create a holistic approach to knowledge that benefits future generations."
Prof. Kishore Mishra, Former Secretary of M.S.R.V.V.P. and Former Head, Faculty of Arts, Kashi Hindu University as Special Guest, reflected on the contributions of the Vedas to various disciplines, remarking:"From linguistics to astronomy, from Ayurveda to mathematics, the Vedas provide invaluable insights that are still being explored today. It is imperative that we continue to study and promote these texts with academic rigor."
Prof. Manoj Kumar Mishra, Head of Veda-Vidyasakha, Central Sanskrit University as Special Guest, highlighted the need for research in Vedic studies, stating: "We must not only preserve but also analyze and interpret Vedic knowledge to make it more accessible to scholars and students worldwide."
Prof.RajendraNath Sharma, Former Head, Department of Sanskrit, Gauhati University as Guest of honour, spoke about the Vedas' role in Sanskrit studies, asserting: "The Vedic tradition and Sanskrit language are inseparable. Strengthening Vedic education will directly contribute to the preservation and promotion of Sanskrit."
Prof.Prabhat Kumar Mohapatra, Director of Central Sanskrit University, Ekalavya Campus, Tripura, presided over the inaugural session and felicitated all the dignitaries and attendees, reiterating the university’s commitment to promoting Vedic studies. Dr. Prakash Ranjan Mishra, the Coordinator, and Dr. Ashish Mishra, Co-Coordinator, outlined the seminar’s objectives. Research scholars and Faculty members from various institutions will extrapolate through their research findings on the process of strategic integration of Vedic knowledge with the modern education system. This seminar serves as a platform for intellectual exchange, fostering a deeper understanding of the Vedas’ role in shaping Indian knowledge systems and their relevance in modern society.
