Inter-state bike lifter gang leader, two associates arrested, 3 stolen bikes recovered
Three notorious motor bike lifters including a leader of inter-state bike lifter gang were arrested and police have also recovered three stolen motor bikes under their possessions on Friday.
Giving details officer-in-charge (OC) of East Agartala police station, Rana Chatterjee said that on December 24th last, one motorbike of Ardhendhu sekhar Chowdhury stolen from Gedu Miah Mosque area of Agartala and after the incident, the bike owner registered a complaint. After receiving the complaint, police through team have started investigation and managed the arrest the kingpin and a leader of inter-state motor bike lifters, Ranjit Sarkar of Melaghar from Tulakona area of Agartala.
During interrogation, arrested Ranjit reveals information on many stolen incidents, who was earlier arrested by the police personnel of Amtali and Sabroom police station, said Chatterjee.
He added that based on the interrogation statements of Ranjit Sarkar, the police personnel from East Agartala police station were also managed to arrest two more bike lifters and associates of Ranjit Sarkar from two separate parts of the city, they were identified as Rubel Sarkar (20) of Lefunga and Shani Saha (27) of Tulakona.
Police have also recovered three stolen motorbikes including two Bajaj Pulsar bikes and one Yamaha bike under their possessions.
Chatterjee added that all arrested thieves will be produced before a local court on Friday with police remand appeals for further interrogation to find details of their networks spread in states and has also neighbouring Bangladesh.
