International Day of Yoga observed across Tripura
Tripura along with other parts of the country on Wednesday celebrated the 9th International Day of Yoga with thousands of school children and people from all walks of life enthusiastically performing yoga asanas.
Union ministers, state ministers, personnel of paramilitary forces, NCC cadets and sports personalities participated in yoga camps spread across the state.
On the occasion of International Day of Yoga – 2023, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and other cabinet ministers and Union of state for Social Justice Smt Pratima Bhowmik and other leaders with hundreds of students participated in a mass Yoga demonstration event at Agartala and other parts of the state.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha along with BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharya first participated at a Yoga event which was organized by BJP Tripura Pradesh at NSRC in Agartala and encouraged all to do regular yoga practice.
“On the initiative of Bharatiya Janata Party under the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, International Yoga Day is observed simultaneously in all the Mandals of the state on Wednesday. As a part of this, today I participated in yoga practice in an event organized by BJP Tripura Pradesh at NSRC in Agartala and encouraged all for regular yoga practice,” said CM.
Later, Chief Minister Dr. Saha attended the state-level International Yoga Day event held at Hapania International Fair Ground.
‘Yoga provides physical and mental well being for people. For sound health and mind, we need to incorporate Yoga as part of our daily life’, said the CM.
The main programme was organized at Hapania international fair ground here where over hundreds students, sports persons, personnel of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and BSF participated. More than 50,000 students joined yoga camps in different parts of Tripura. The international Day of Yoga was also celebrated by some clubs and NGOs.
However, Assam Rifles (AR) through a press communiqué said that they observed the 9th International Yoga Day at Agartala Garrison. The event commenced with a welcome speech to greet the Senior Officials of Assam Rifles highlighting the importance of yoga in our day to day life. Further it was graced by Shivankar Chakraborty and Mrs Archana Pariwal from Art of Living Ashram, Agartala who showcased the best form of asanyas required to be practiced in modern day lifestyle. Overall the event benefited all persons present in the event. A small lecture was delivered by Shivshankar, speaking about Yoga as an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition, how it embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action and a holistic approach which is valuable to our health and our well-being. Yoga is not just about exercise, it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with oneself, the world and nature.
The event culminated with a closing address and felicitation of the honoured guests. A total of 240 combatants and 47 families attended the event.
The BSF Tripura frontier has also observed 9th International Day for Yoga at all campuses including Border Out Posts (BOPs),Battalion, Sector and Frontier Headquarters in a grand manner with enthusiasm to improve physical, mental, emotional and Spiritual health of the troops.
BSF said that true to the theme for International Day for Yoga for this year “VasudhaiveKutumbakam”, BSF troops on border but not only observed and performed yoga but also educated border population regarding benefits of Yoga.
Many Yoga sessions were organized on different dates at different locations, which was not only appreciated by civil society but participated by them also. Considered as a holistic approach and to make this precious occasion, mass yoga events were organized at all BSF locations wherein all ranks along with family and children participated.
