Last rites of N C Debbarma completed at his ancestral village with state honour
The last rites of Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) supremo and Revenue Minister N C Debbarma was completed at his ancestral village Naksiraipara under Teliamura subdivision in Khowai district with full state honours in presence of his family members, relatives and well-wishers.
Thousands of villagers gathered at Naksiraipara village of Uttar Maharanipur, a tribal-dominated hamlet of the district to pay their last tributes to Debbarma. A gun salute was given at the time of the funeral.
Earlier, the mortal remains of Debbarma were taken to the state Assembly and Civil Secretariat where Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha,his cabinet colleagues and opposition MLAs offered floral tributes to the departed leader. Debbarma died on Sunday at GB Hospital after he suffered a cerebral attack and underwent an emergency brain surgery.
On Monday, the mortal remains Debbarma was brought to All India Radio (AIR) in Agartala from his residence, where employees of AIR paid their tributes. Later, Debbarma was station director of AIR, Agartala centre. Then, his body was brought to the Assembly and later, at the Civil secretariat, where along with the Chief Minister, other ministers, MLAs, Chief secretary J K Sinha and DGP Amitabh Ranjan were also paid their floral tributes.
