Law and order situation deteriorating in Tripura: Jiten
Opposition CPI (M) on Sunday giving statistic of crime data for last three months alleged that despite improvement as claimed by the Chief Minister, the overall law and order situation of the state are deteriorating day by day.
Addressing a press conference here at CPI (M) headquarters on Sunday evening, CPI (M) state secretary and MLA Jitendra Chaudhury said that after formation of second BJP-IPFT government in Tripura led by Dr Manik Saha, who was announcing the future decisions and programmes of new government had uttered something peculiar, which need reaction from opposition party.
Reacting over the statements made by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Chaudhury said that Chief Minister during foundation stone laying ceremony of a temple uttered that people of Tripura did not have rights to maintain of their religious rights, which is totally false and fabricated statements to tarnish images of previous governments.
As per some media reports, the Chief Minister had uttered only falsehood and promoted anti-social activities of his party leaders, said Chaudhury and giving an instance said that CM praised one of their youth leader, who has been selected as chairman of public sector undertaking (PSO) body, who was responsible for the attacks and vandalization a newspaper office.
Chaudhury said that since March 2nd to May 31st, 2023, altogether 16 persons were murdered, 78 persons were died after their committed suicide, unnatural death registered 65 and a total of 12 rape and gang rape incidents held in the similar period along with a incident of gang rape and murder.
He said that during the same period, the state has also witnessed six kidnapping cases, 8 incidents of molestation, 137 incidents of snatching and 17 incidents of atrocities on women. But, most surprisingly by suppressing all previous records, Tripura is now a safe haven and a corridor of different kinds of drugs including Cannabis, Phensedyl, tablets, Brown Sugar and Heroine, which are massively destroying the societies of the state.
He alleged that the hills of the state are severely suffering from the drinking water crisis and developmental works have been stalled in ADC areas as the state government is not realizing funds.
He also alleged that the present government was indulging criminals and praising their party workers, who were involved with criminal activities. Chaudhury also said that many parts of the state still witnessing post-poll violence sponsored by ruling party supporters and livelihood of thousands of working classes including auto-rickshaw drivers, pump operators and Anganwadi workers were snatched by ruling party workers, but unfortunately , Chief Minister does not uttered any word against atrocities and neither take any step to stop violence.
He also urged the government to maintain their pre-poll assurances and should give a solution of retrenched 10, 323 teachers, SSA teachers and candidates of STGT.
