Manik Sarkar calls for united movement to oust BJP in next general elections

Former Chief Minister and CPI (M) politburo member Manik Sarkar in his scathing attacks over BJP governments both in centre and state calls for united movements to oust the BJP in 2024 general elections.

Addressing a mass rally of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) in Agartala in support of their 16 point charter of demands including increase in wages for working classes, ensure of work, food, reinstatement of retrenched workers, bonus, ex-gratia and an end to oppression of workers, Sarkar urges the people to ready for a greater united fight against BJP to protect their rights.

Highlighting the alleged oppression politics of the ruling party in Tripura, Sarkar said that it’s a very big step by defying all threats and intimidation by miscreants owing allegiance to the ruling party, thousands of CITU supporters and workers gathered at Agartala demanding their legitimate rights.

Stressing the need to oust the present BJP government from power, Sarkar stated that unless all political parties and the general public initiate a movement against the ruling BJP in 2024, the protection of all rights of common people in the country would be very challenging.

He said that the present Tripura government is working over the direction of the central government and they will not consider the 16 points demands of CITU as both the government are continuing their appeasement policies in favour of corporate.

The BJP governments have been working against people's interests since the beginning and the government does not care about the working-class people and only thinks about corporate interests, said Sarkar.

Speaking in the rally, CPI (M) state secretary and MLA Jitendra Chaudhury said that during the past nine years, the condition of working classes and farmers are deteriorating day by day and people are struggling to earn their two squares of meals.

He alleged that Mandal and Morcha leaders of BJP are looting all the allocations of  common people from various departments. “They are looting the money that was sanctioned for the MNREGA and TUEP workers. There is no one to monitor or take notice of this matter. Such a terrible situation is going on in the state of Tripura”, said Chaudhury.

CITU leader and former minister Manik Dey and Sankar Prasad Datta also addressed the rally and appealed to the people to strengthen their movements against the oppression politics of ruling governments.
