Massive anti-drug raid at Goyala Basti, 9 peddlers arrested with contraband items

In a massive  anti-drug drive at the thickly populated Goyala Basti area under New Capital Complex (NCC) police station of Agartala, altogether 9 drug peddlers were arrested along with seizure of country made liquors and Cannabis (Ganja).

Giving details of the massive anti-drug operation inside the Goyala Bato area of the city, officer-in-charge (OC) of NCC police station Prajit  Malakar said that based on secret information over storage of large quantities of contraband items inside many house of Goyala Basti, a large team of police forces including CRPF and TSR jawans raided at the Basti area on Sunday.

During the raid, security forces in search of many houses have recovered large quantities of country made liquors and dry Ganja. Police also have arrested nine drug peddlers during the raid.

He said that all arrested drug peddlers were booked under a case registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 and they will be produced before a local court on Monday.

Police added that they will continue their anti-drug operations and will arrest all persons, who are involved with illegal drug trading networks.
