Massive preparations going on to welcome Prime Minister Modi on Dec 18
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tripura on December 18 next to address a mass rally at Vivekananda stadium in Agartala and to attend a variety of events and to launch a host of projects.
Addressing a press conference here at Civil Secretariat on Wednesday noon, Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Minister Sushanta Chowdhury addressing a press conference said that during one day tour, the Prime Minister will inaugurates few development schemes of the state and will also interact with beneficiaries of different government schemes .
Chowdhury said that the Prime Minister would preside over the golden jubilee celebrations of the North Eastern Council (NEC) at Shillong , a regional planning body on December 17 , where Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will also be present along with all the Governors and Chief Ministers of all the eight Northeastern states.
As per the schedules received from the Prime Minister Office (PMO), the Prime Minister will arrive at Agartala airport at 2.30 PM on December 18 and will straight reach at Swami Vivekananda stadium, where he will address a mass rally, said Chowdhury.
He said that within the next two days the complete tour schedules of the PM will be available and the government will share the minute to minute details of the tour programme. By the time, there are possibilities that the PM will likely interact with beneficiaries of various programmes, such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Garib Kalayan Anna Yojana, PM-Kishan and Jal Jeevan Mission, during the event.
He said that over 3 lakh dwelling units were sanctioned under the PMAY in Tripura, while 4.10 lakh of the 7.42 lakh households under rural Tripura were covered with piped water connections under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and 2.40 lakh farmers are receiving financial assistance of Rs 6,000 each in every year.
He said that the state administration is taking massive preparations for the proposed visit of the PM and a special cabinet held on Tuesday evening under the leadership of Chief Minister to prepare the tour details. Chowdhury said another top level meeting of administrative officials led by Chief Secretary in presence of DGP was also held on Tuesday.
The Minister said that ‘Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan’ was launched by the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 which has gained global popularity. Following the vision and on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit, special initiatives have been taken on keeping the Agartala city and nearby areas clean. Initiatives have been taken by the state administration to make this programme a success.He added that the Chief Secretary had directed every district and sub- division administration to make the programme a success.
Chowdhury added that there are possibilities that the PM will chair a meeting with the state cabinet and will also meet the ruling party MLAs, but the details are yet to be finalized as it is subjected to confirmation by the Special Protection Group (SPG).
While, on Wednesday morning a jumbo team of state’s administration in presence ministers Sushanta Chowdhury, Ram Prasad Paul, BJP’s state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Chief Secretary J K Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan and other officials along with some top leaders of ruling party visited Vivekananda stadium and reviewed the preparation works for mass rally.
In the morning Chief Minister and senior state government officials also inspected the airport to check security arrangements ahead of the PM visit.
Meanwhile, a six member team of SPG arrived in the state capital on Wednesday and held meeting with top officials civil and police administrations to review the security scenario and has also visited Airport and Vivekananda stadium. The SPG team has also issued necessary directions for tight security.
