The third National Lok Adalat of the year was held on September 12 across all district and sub-divisional courts in Tripura including in High Court of Tripura, with a significant number of cases being settled.

According to a statement issued by the Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA), 31,140 cases were taken up for disposal at the National Lok Adalat. Of the 27,992 pending cases placed before the benches, 18,519 cases were disposed of, accounting for 66.16 per cent of the cases. The process resulted in the recovery of Rs 1 crore 83 lakh 18 thousand 17 as revenue.

In addition, 3,148 pre-litigation dispute cases were taken up, of which 414 cases were settled. A total of Rs 1 crore 89 lakh 3 thousand 55 was recovered in these settlements.

District-wise, the cases disposed of included 6,899 in West Tripura, 1,325 in Khowai, 1,785 in Dhalai, 2,013 in North Tripura, 1,339 in Unakoti, 1,178 in Gomati, 2,552 in South Tripura and 1,425 in Sepahijala. Three cases were also disposed of by a bench at the High Court.

Member Secretary of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, BP Debbarma, thanked the courts, police, media, administration and officials of all concerned departments for their cooperation in making the National Lok Adalat successful.
