One killed, seven injured in clash between two families in Belonia
Disputing setting up water tap, fierce clash erupted among the members of two families, one youth was killed and at least seven more persons sustained critical injuries at Bagachetla area of Kashari RF Village of Belonia police station under South Tripura district.
Police sources said that after the clash, the elder brother of the deceased youth filed an FIR against 12 persons and so far the investigation team has arrested five persons involved in the incident.
Police sources added that on Thursday, members of two families of Rajkumar Tripura and Ajit Tripura of Bagachetla village engaged in fierce fighting, disputing setting up drinking water tap connection and in the afternoon, both family members attacked each other with sharp weapons. As a result, seven persons including both families suffered critical injuries. Among injured persons, one Badal Tripura, younger brother of Ajit Tripura was found inside a rubber garden in an unconscious mood.
After police and firefighters rushed to the spot, they shifted critically injured Badal Tripura to Belonia Hospital and during treatment, in the wee hours Friday Badal Tripura succumbed due to his critical injuries. While, other injured persons were admitted to hospital.
Police added that after the clash, senior police officials including SP (South), SDPO (Belonia) had also rushed to the spot to defuse the tension. Later, the elder brother of deceased man, Ajit Tripura filed an FIR against 12 persons at Belonia police station and police on Friday managed to arrest five among 12 accused persons.
Police added that they launched a search operation to arrest other accused persons involved in the killing of Badal Tripura, who was lynched to death by FIR named accused persons.
It may be recalled here that slain Badal Tripura was a rubber garden tapper leaving behind two children and wife. A paal gloom descended on the entire Bagachetla after the death of Badal Tripura and police deployed security forces in that village to defuse escalating tension.
