Opposition strengthening campaign in both LS seats, Jiten lambasts Motha leaders for poor condition of tribals
Amidst high voltage campaign across Tripura for the election battle of two Lok Sabha seats, like ruling BJP, the opposition INDIA Bloc are not leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters in favour of their party candidates.
Top CPI (M) leaders along with their poll alliance partner Congress are also jointly organizing campaigns in different parts of the state including small street rallies, door-to-door campaigns and road shows etc.
On Friday, both opposition CPI(M) and Congress jointly organized an election rally at Manu Bankul area of Sabroom in support of INDIA Bloc candidate Rajendra Reang for East Tripura ST reserved parliamentary constituency, where CPI(M) state secretary and leader of opposition (LoP) Jitendra Chaudhury and senior Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman addressed the gathering.
Jitendra Chaudhury in his address highlighting the ten years rule of BJP government led by Nrendra Modi claimed that the past ten years were the worst and suffering period of common people of the country after independence.
He termed the BJP a “burden of the society” and claimed that people’s response to the campaigns ahead of the Lok Sabha elections suggests that the BJP will be rejected in the entire country in the upcoming polls.
INDIA bloc co-convener Jitendra Chaudhury said at present the country is passing through a very difficult time and the spirit of the constitution and democracy are on the verge of collapse due to the misrule of the Modi government. Mentioning one after one attacks on opposition parties by the BJP government by using the agencies, Chaudhury claimed that people of the country tolerated enough the atrocities and terror of the government and now they are ready to give a befitting reply to BJP .
“They (BJP) are questioning how we are fighting together despite our past political rivalry. People, including Congress and CPI-M workers, were murdered in the past and we apologize for that. But they (BJP) are murdering democracy itself. Generations would be murdered if democracy is killed in the country,” said Chaudhury. “The Constitution is under attack now; the agencies are being misused, while the judiciary is also being meddled with. In the name of nationalism, they (BJP) are trying to erase the history of our country,” Chaudhury claimed.
Highlighting the fate of the poor indigenous people of the state, Chaudhury claimed that since 2018 with the slogan of IPFT for separate state and their alliance with BJP for personal gain, the tribal people of the state did not get anything despite fake poll assurances.
Now with emerge of another tribal party, Tipra-Motha and fake dialogues by its supremo, ultimately before last assembly elections, they through secret nexus and for personal benefit give extra advantage to BJP by putting 22 candidates in general seats of the state and formed second BJP government, said Chaudhury.
“The people of the state saw the fasting of 22 minutes and so-called phone from Delhi and final outcome of movement for so-called constitutional solution, greater Tipraland, a family member of royal palace now candidate for East Tripura seat with symbol of BJP,” said Chaudhury and added that all these are poll gimmick for personal benefit and ultimately the tribals of the state are the worst suffer.
The leaders of Tipra-Motha are the masked agents of BJP and they are responsible for deteriorating living conditions of tribals of Tripura, alleged Chaudhury.
Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and Tripura INDIA bloc co-convener, Sudip Roy Barman, said that the response they have been receiving so far from the people is beyond imagination. People want change in both the Lok Sabha constituencies in Tripura, along with the rest of the country, as they are dejected with this government.
Roy Barman said that the BJP should disclose a progress report of their achievements as well as their visions for the future. "Instead, they are diverting the attention of the masses, resorting to terror tactics by burning opposition's campaign materials, assaulting opposition party workers, jailing opposition party leaders, freezing Congress' bank accounts, and misusing the central agencies like the CBI, ED, Income Tax etc.," he alleged.
Roy Barman also said that democracy and the Constitution are in danger under BJP's rule, as he appealed to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure free and fair elections so that the people can exercise their mandate without any trouble.
On Friday, the INDIA Bloc candidate for West Tripura seat, Ashish Kumar Saha, also organized a road show at Mohanpur assembly constituency and addressed small rallies along with CPI(M) leaders.
