Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday said that the state government is continuing its recruitment process. The process is underway to recruit 126 more assistant professors in degree colleges. Along with this, the present government is implementing various schemes to empower women.

Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha said this at a programme for the distribution of appointment letters to Assistant Professors and Youth Organizers at the Matangini Auditorium of Agartala Women's College on Wednesday.

At the programme, organized by the Higher Education Department and the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, scooties were provided to meritorious girl students under the Chief Minister's Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana.

Speaking at the programme, Dr Saha said that through this initiative, opportunities are being created to encourage meritorious girl students and help them move towards self-reliance. Along with this, higher education will be strengthened through the recruitment of assistant professors.

“Similarly, the foundation will be laid to take the youth forward in the fields of culture and sports through Youth Organizers. Today, 30 scooties have been provided to meritorious students under the Chief Minister's Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana. A total of 152 students in the academic year 2023-24 and 122 students in the financial year 2024-25 have benefited from the scheme. I sincerely congratulate all the students,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the present state government is implementing various schemes to empower women.

“The government has made arrangements to reserve 33% of seats for women in government jobs. The government is trying to improve women's quality of life through self-help groups. Our esteemed Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also working in this direction. Because if women are strong, society will also be strong. Therefore, educating girls and making them skilled and self-reliant are among the priority areas of the state government,” he said.

He said that the Chief Minister's Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana was launched in 2025. Its main objective is to encourage meritorious students to pursue higher education by providing them with convenient transportation to college.

“Rs 1 crore has been allocated every year by the Finance Department for this scheme. Through such initiatives, students will be able to move towards self-reliance to a great extent,” Dr. Saha said.

The Chief Minister further said that appointment letters were handed over to 10 Youth Organizers today.

“We know that there is a great need to develop the talents of young people. In this regard, Youth Organizers have to play a significant role. Young people should be developed as human resources in the true sense. Talented players should also be nurtured in the field of sports,” he said.

Dr. Saha said that there is a shortage of faculty members in government degree colleges in the higher education sector.

“To address this shortage, appointment letters have been handed over to 74 assistant professors today. I wish them success in their future careers. The higher education sector will be further strengthened through the appointment of assistant professors. In addition, the process is underway to recruit 126 more assistant professors.
