Rule of law restored, insurgency tackled under BJP govt: CM
Previous government created problems, we are solving them: CM
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Thursday said that various developmental works are being carried out under the initiative of the Minority Welfare Department. However, the previous government has left many problems on our shoulders, and we are still dealing with the consequences of their immoral actions.
Dr Saha said this at an award distribution ceremony recognizing the academic excellence of students from the minority community at Pragya Bhavan on Thursday.
While speaking at this ceremony organized by the Minority Welfare Department of the state government, the Chief Minister said that it is not possible to think of minorities as just one particular community.
“Here, minorities include Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains. The words spoken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are of great importance. The way India is taking a leading position in the world today is not just a matter of words. It is possible through Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas. Our only aim is to think about the welfare of those who are in India or who are Indians. People have faith in the Prime Minister,” he said.
Dr. Saha highlighted that triple talaq was a major issue and questioned how many leaders and Prime Ministers had addressed it before.
“But no one took a step out of fear. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, however, took the bold initiative to abolish triple talaq. As a result, women from the minority community have gained their social rights. The Prime Minister is always working continuously for the people and for the welfare of all communities,” said Dr Saha.
The Chief Minister also stated that due to the strong role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there has been transparency in matters related to Waqf Board properties, and reforms have been achieved.
“Earlier, there was a ban on women entering the Waqf Board. Now, there is a provision for including women. After the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government came to power in Tripura in 2018, there has been a sense of comfort among the people. The rule of law has been established,” said Dr Saha.
At the event, the Chief Minister reiterated that various developmental works are being carried out under the initiative of the Minority Welfare Department.
“For example, scholarships are being provided to students, student hostels are being built, madrasas are being developed, and attention is being paid to infrastructure development in minority-dominated areas. Arrangements are being made to train unemployed youth to develop their skills and implement various projects to make them financially self-reliant. The state government's Minority Welfare Department is implementing these works,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that the previous government left many problems for the present state government, which are yet to be fully resolved.
“We are now having to deal with many cases left by them, which are becoming a financial burden on us. The previous government was a government that created problems, and we are a government that solves problems. The previous government created terrorism, and we have brought terrorists back into the mainstream. To strengthen the country, children should also be taught proper morals. The days of immoral conduct are over now,” he added.
Minority Welfare Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA Tafazzal Hossain, Tripura Waqf Board Chairman Moboshar Ali, Tripura Minorities Cooperative Development Corporation Limited Chairman Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Tripura State Haj Committee Chairman Shah Alam, Minority Welfare Department Secretary Tapas Roy, Director Nirmal Adhikari, and other prominent persons were present as distinguished guests at the event.
