Setting up of a world class integrated border multispecialty hospital in Tripura for B’desh citizens can be explored, CM
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday gave emphasis on setting up of an international standard Ayurveda and Yoga school in the state to extend the business and trade potential with the countries of Southeast Asia.
Chief Minister Dr Saha sharing dais with union Health and Family Welfare minister Mansukh Mandaviya during the two-day long event of ‘One Earth-One Health: Advantage Healthcare India 2023’ at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, said that the hills and valleys of the state are full of medicinal plants. Hence, he emphasized on setting up an Ayurveda medicine manufacturing unit in Tripura by utilizing this resource.
He said that the goal is wellness and welfare for everyone along with physical, mental and social wellbeing. He also said that this programme resonates a lot with the G20 presidency. There are a large number of doctors in different parts of the world from the country while India became home to the largest and fastest Covid-19 vaccines to the world and this shows the kind of role for Health facilities which is played for the world by India and will continue to be the trusted nation and added that the aim is to make healthcare accessible and affordable not only for the Country but for the whole world.
A proposal is there to set up an AIIMS and another AIIMS like institution is in the state as world class treatment facilities will give access to the people of Bangladesh at affordable price while setting up of a world class integrated border multispecialty hospital may be explored in the state, said Dr Saha.
Following the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, Dr Saha said “We are always working for the welfare of the whole world. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also presented to the world the principle of ‘One Earth-One Health’ i.e., working for the good health of all life including the world of animals. This policy will help prevent disease, reduce costs, improve food security and save lives.”
“Tripura is working on a dynamic and progressive policy in health services. Many patients from neighbouring Bangladesh come to Tripura for treatment. If world class medical infrastructure is developed in the state, then the people of Bangladesh will also benefit from it immensely. They can avail medical services at low cost”, Dr Saha said on the occasion.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clearly spelt out the undiluted commitment to his approach by saying that “We have put forward a vision before the world - One Earth One Health. This involves holistic health care – for all creatures-Humans, Animals or plants".
He also said that this approach will help prevent disease, reduce costs, improve food security and save life. Tripura is one of the smallest states of India situated in the North East Region and has a long-shared border with Bangladesh. There are a large number of people of Bangladesh who use the health facilities available in the state and hence a transformative approach has been taken in its health care system.
The Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that there are two Medical Colleges and one Dental College with the availability of super specialist service. The Dental college has been recently set up. There is one veterinary college, Agriculture College, and Fisheries College.
He further said that as connectivity would be established “Maitri Setu” starts at Sabroom, South Tripura, it would be the gateway of the South East Asia Region. Therefore, an establishment of an international school of Ayurveda and Yoga may open many endeavours of business opportunities for the world. There are plenty of medicinal plants and herbs in the state and the climate and geographical stature with hills and valleys is very much suitable for plantation of medicinal herbs in our land. Therefore, for optimum utilization of these resources, a manufacturing unit of ayurvedic medicine may be established as well.
The Union Minister Health and Family Welfare Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that the country has been creating a healthcare ecosystem. He also added that an infrastructure will be built against the global healthcare challenges as well. The Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang and Health Ministers from various States of India and Delegates from India and abroad were present in this programme.
